El '9' de la Selección comentó con la afición en F9T Directo sus impresiones de cara a la Eurocopa desde el 'cuartel' de Neustift.

Fernando Torres hizo un pequeño paréntesis en la concentración de Neustift para compartir con los aficionados un encuentro digital a través de su sitio web oficial. El '9' de la Selección respondió durante 75 minutos a 21 cuestiones planteadas a través de 'F9T Directo', en las que comentó sus impresiones de cara a la participación de España en la Eurocopa '08.

ilusiones que después han acabado rotas ¿crees que este si es el año
de hacer esas ilusiones realidad y volver a ganar un título? yo espero
que sí, y también que culmines esta gran temporada que has hecho en
Inglaterra con un título con la Selección! Un beso, y muchísima

Hola a todos. Desde Austria un saludo y muchas gracias por vuestro
interés. Contestaré todas las que pueda. Nuestra intención es llegar
lo más lejos posible y tratar de conseguir la Eurocopa. Somos
prácticamente el mismo grupo de Alemania, tenemos más experiencia y
estamos esperanzados. Desde luego, más ilusión y ganas que tenemos los
jugadores es difícil encontrar.

Muchas gracias. No sé cuántos goles. Espero que sean cuantos más
mejor. Ya sabéis que no me gusta poner cifras. De todos modos, lo más
importante serán los logros de la selección.

de las expectativas durante 44 años? ¿Y por qué piensas que esta vez
puede ser diferente? Thank you

Bueno es difícil analizar, pero por ejemplo fuimos subcampeones en
Francia, aunque la última en Portugal no estuvimos bien. No creo que
seamos favoritos y además, no es bueno asumir ese papel. Lo que no
podemos hacer es evitar soñar con lo mejor.

gustaría saber cómo llegas físicamente después de la dura temporada
que has tenido. Gracias. Un abrazo.

Es la temporada que más partidos he jugado como profesional. Pero me
encuentro bien y con gasolina suficiente.

- 5. Cynthia (16:23 h) ¿Crees que si la selección adoptara tu estilo
de juego como con el Liverpool tendríais más opciones de ganar la
Eurocopa, a pesar de que ya has comentado anteriormente que eres tú el
que se tiene que adaptar al juego de la Selección?

Es que la selección no es un solo jugador. Creo que me tengo que
adaptar a la manera que quiere Luis que juguemos y ese esfuerzo es el
que estoy realizando. Sí me gustaría que actuáramos con más ritmo y
con más velocidad. En eso estamos.

en esta Eurocopa, que va a ser la nuestra. Viendo que mucha gente pone
su confianza en ti, al ver tu gran temporada, ¿sientes presión? ¿quién
crees que será el jugador decisivo o clave? Un besazo y de nuevo,
mucha suerte y gracias por acordarte de nosotros.

Muchas gracias. No tenemos más presión que a la que nosotros nos
sometemos. Por eso decía antes que no debemos llevar el cartel de
favoritos. El jugador clave puede ser Iniesta o Fábregas. Ya he dicho
alguna vez que a Cesc no se le conoce mucho en España, pero es
buenísimo. Andrés puede ser una de las sensaciones del torneo.

piensas sobre tu importancia en esta Eurocopa. ¿Crees que va a ser tu
Eurocopa? ¿Crees que podrás llegar a ser pichichi? Espero que marques

Vuelvo a insistir que no es la Eurocopa de un futbolista. Ojalá sea la
de España. Es un torneo corto a seis partidos y tienes que estar muy
metido desde el principio. Lo de ser pichichi es relativo. Prefiero el
éxito colectivo.

No es el momento de hablar de eso. Luis es el seleccionador y todos
estamos con él.

una chica de Palestina. Me gusta mucho tu juego y también el del
equipo Sueco. Quería saber si el equipo Sueco te infunde temor. No lo
olvides nunca: eres mi jugador favorito.

Suecia nos ganó en su casa y son un equipo muy peligroso. Además
cuenta con un jugador excelente como Ibrahimovic. Es un delantero
sensacional. Como ya los conocemos puede pasar cualquier cosa, pero
ahora mismo nos preocupa Rusia porque es el primero y porque tienen un
equipazo. Pero temor no nos da ninguna selección.

mejorar en algunos aspectos, tácticos, físicos...? ¿En cuáles? un

Somos un grupo joven y a todos nos hace mucha ilusión entrar en la
historia de España. Para decir en qué tenemos que mejorar está Luis.

crees que es el mejor jugador de la Eurocopa? Un besito desde
Barcelona y mucha suerte crak!

Al final del campeonato se verá. La temporada de Cristiano Ronaldo ha
sido muy buena. Es posible que esté entre los mejores. Echaré de menos
al que para mí es el mejor, Gerrard.

Guayaquil-Ecuador. Soy una fiel seguidora tuya y del Liverpool,
felicidades por tu excelente temporada. Mi pregunta es: teniendo un
equipazo España ¿por qué no puede alejar los fantasmas de pasadas
decepciones?

Hemos pasado malos momentos en la fase de clasificación, pero hemos
salido fortalecidos. Queremos ir paso a paso. Ganar los tres partidos
para luego pensar en el cruce. No es el momento de pensar en pasadas
decepciones. Tenemos que aprender de esas malas experiencias para no
repetir errores.

Me da igual. Lo importante es ser primeros. De todos modos, recuerdo
el Mundial. Fuimos primeros y nos eliminó Francia. Desde cuartos
ningún rival será sencillo.

Quería saber qué hacéis en el hotel de concentración o en el autobús
cuando no hay trabajo con la Selección. Saludos desde Grecia.

Pues leer, pasar un rato con el ordenador. Escuchar música. Tratamos
de pasar el tiempo de la mejor manera posible. los trayectos de
autobús no suelen ser muy largos. Normalmente, vemos una película si
pasamos mucho rato.

ha tenido España antes de que este sábado empiece lo fuerte. ¿Cómo has
visto a la selección? ¿Crees que pese a los pequeños problemas estamos
preparados para la Eurocopa? Un beso, Yarah.

Creo que a partir del martes veremos una Selección más fuerte. Los
partidos amistosos son para ir cogiendo ritmo. Hemos tenido de todo,
pero el rendimiento irá creciendo. Estamos listos, eso lo tengo claro.

campanada esta Euro 08? Saludos y suerte ¡¡¡VENTE PRONTO AL
ATLÉTICO!!!

Los favoritos son las selecciones de siempre. Las acostumbradas a
ganar: Alemania, Francia o Italia. Quizá Holanda esté arriba y
Rumanía, nadie habla de ellos porque están en el grupo más fuerte,
pero son peligrosos.

- 17. titania (17:13 h) De los rivales que hay en el Grupo D... ¿cuál
consideras que es el más peligroso?

Rusia es un equipazo. Juegan a mucha velocidad y a mucho ritmo. Ya
hemos visto el Zenit lo que ha conseguido en la Uefa. Es importante
ganar porque es el primer partido y nos daría mucha moral. Creo que
será clave para el futuro de nuestro campeonato.

- 18. Fito (17:17 h) Hola crak. Este año he visto todos tus partidos
en el Liverpool y te doy la enhorabuena por los 33 goles. Se critica
mucho el juego lento de España pero hay grandes que no han llegado a
la Eurocopa ¿Qué explicación tiene el que no esté Inglaterra? ¿puede
ser por el sistema de juego? Un saludo y mucha suerte.

Es difícil encontrar una explicación, pero los rusos son mejores de
los que la gente cree. Luego con Croacia no dieron la talla y tuvieron
dos tropiezos en casa con Macedonia e Israel. Para el fútbol es una
lástima que Inglaterra no esté en Austria-Suiza.

- 19. Gemma (17:18 h) Eres un fuera de serie, pero en la Selección no
tienes detrás al equipo que tienes en Liverpool. España tiene una
plantilla de jugadores excelentes...que brillan en solitario. ¿Crees
que veremos una Selección compacta en esta Eurocopa y que lograremos
unir la calidad de cada jugador en un equipo invencible? ¡Tú solo,
puedes con todos! ¡A por ellos genio!

Equipos invencibles no existen. Estamos trabajando para lograr el
objetivo porque esta selección tiene mucha calidad individual. Se
trata de que seamos capaces de compactarnos, como dices Gemma.

- 20. Stephen from Australia (17:23 h) Hola Fernando, felicidades por
esta primera temporada en Liverpool. Pareces un jugador con mucha
sangre fría sobre el terreno de juego. ¿Te pones nervioso antes o
durante los partidos? Te gustaría jugar un amistoso en Australia en el
futuro?

No me pongo nervioso. La responsabilidad es otra cosa. Tu país me
gusta y me encantaría conocerlo. Espero hacerlo pronto.

- 21. Stefanie (17:26 h) ¿Qué te parece la región del Tirol? Soy
natural de aquí y espero verte en los entrenamientos. Espero que estés

Es una zona preciosa, por lo poco que hemos podido ver. Espero que no
nos movamos de Austria porque será buena señal. Bueno, me despido.

Question: After so many years of broken dreams, do you think that this year Spain could win the European Championships again. I hope so! It would be amazing that you could crown a great year at Liverpool by winning a trophy with the Spanish national team.

Fernando: Our aim is to go as far as possible, and to try and win Euro 2008. We are basically the same squad which took part at the 2006 World Cup in Germany, but with more experience and we are really looking forward to the tournament. It will be hard to find a team with more hope and hunger than we have.

Congratulations Fernando, you deserve it! 33 goals for Liverpool! How many do you think that you will score for Spain?

Thank you. I am not too sure how many goals I am going to score, though the more, the merrier. I never really like to guess the exact number. Though at the end of the day, the most important thing is what Spain achieves.

Why do you think Spain has under achieved for 44 years? And what do you think is going to be different this time round?

It is difficult to say. Spain did finish runners-up in France, but we did not perform well at the last Euro held in Portugal. I don't think that we are favourites, and we should not consider ourselves as favourites. But there is no harm done in hoping for the best.

I have been a big fan of yours for a long time. After such a long and hard season, and with Euro 2008 just about to start, how are you feeling?

It is true that this season has been the year that I have played the most number of games. Though I feel fine and I still have plenty of energy left in me.

Even though you said in an interview that you are the one who has to adapt to Spain's style of play… do you feel that if Spain played more the way you do, like at Liverpool, you would have a greater chance of success at the European Championships?

The Spanish national team is more than just one player. I think that I should adapt to the way Luis Aragones wants the side to play football, and I am working hard to do it. Though I would like us to play a faster paced game, and it is something we are trying to achieve.

Following your great season, a lot of people have put their faith in you. Do you feel under pressure? Who do you think will be the most decisive player?

Thank you. The only pressure we are under is the pressure we exert on ourselves. That is why I said that we should not be seen as favourites. As for the most decisive player, I think that it could be either Iniesta or Cesc Fabregas. I have already said before that Cesc is not as appreciated in Spain as in England, but he is a great player. Andres Iniesta could be one of the star players at Euro 2008.

I would like to know what you think your role will be at this year’s European Championships? Do you think that this is going to be your year and do you think that you can win the Golden Boot?

Euro 2008 will not be just about one player. Hopefully it will be Spain's year. It is a short tournament with a maximum of six games, and you have to be fully focused from the start. To finish-up as the top goalscorer is relative, because if I had to choose, I would prefer the team to win.

Do you think things with the Spanish national team with Luis Aragones as manager will be different. Will it be easy to get used to the new coach when he starts?

Now is not the right time to talk about this. Luis is the manager and we are all behind him.

Hi Fernando, I am a Palestinian girl and I wanted to know if you are afraid of facing the Swedish team?

Sweden beat us away and they are a dangerous side. They also have Ibrahimovic, who is a great player. He is a great striker. Anything can happen between the two sides, but first we have to face Russia, another good team. Though we are not afraid of anyone.

How do you see Spain? Do you think that they should improve certain areas; like tactics or physical play? What are your thoughts?

We are a young group of players and we are all looking forward to writing a piece of history. As for what we need to improve, that should be a question for Luis. He knows best.

Who do you think will be the best player at Euro 08?

We have to wait and see. Cristiano Ronaldo has had a great season. He could quite possibly be up there with the best, though I will miss Gerrard, who for me, is the best there is.

Hey Torres, my name is Andrea Quintana and I am from Guayaquil in Ecuador. I am a big fan of yours and Liverpool, congratulations on a great season. My question is: How come with such a great team, Spain cannot break away from its past?

We had some tough times during the qualification process, but we came out of it a lot stronger. We want to take it one step at a time. Our aim is to win the first three games before then focussing on the quarter-finals. We should not look back, but we have to learn from the past so that we do not make the same mistakes.

If Spain get past the group stage, who would you like to face? Italy, Holland or France?

I don't mind. The most important thing is to finish top. Though looking back at the World Cup, we finished top and went out to France. From the quarter-finals onwards, there are no easy teams.

I wanted to ask you what you do in the bus or in the hotel when there is no training?

A lot of reading, on the computer, listen to music... we try to make the most of our free time. The bus journeys are not that long, and when they are, we normally watch a film.

Who do you think could be the surprise team at Euro 08?

The favourites are always the same, the teams which are used to winning these kind of events; Germany, France or Italy. Holland will be there, or thereabouts, and also Romania... nobody really speaks about them because they are in a tough group, but they are a dangerous side.

Out of your opponents in Group D which team do you think will be the biggest threat?

Russia are a great team. They play with a lot of pace and we all saw how Zenit won the UEFA Cup. It will be important to win because it is our opening clash, and it would give us a lot of morale. I think the first game will be key for us.

I have watched all your games this season for Liverpool, and congratulations on scoring 33 goals. Spain's slow style of play has received a lot of criticism, but some great teams did not even make the European Championships, like England… Why do you think that they did not qualify?

It is hard to find an answer. Though Russia are a lot better than people give them credit for. England did not perform well against Croatia and I think that they also slipped-up against Macedonia at home and Israel away. It is a big shame for European football that England are not part of Euro 2008.

Spain has great players but they are all great solo players. Do you think that we will see a 'team' at Euro 08, and that all the 'solo' players will gel to create an unbeatable side?

There is no such thing as an invincible team. We are working hard to reach our objective because we have a lot of quality players. Gemma, you are right when you say that we have to 'gel' as a team.
